Obituary of Marjorie R. Derrenbacher

Sodus: Passed away on Sunday, October 24th at the age of 92. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Walter E. Derrenbacher on May 3, 1999. She is survived by her children Walter C. Derrenbacher, David C. Derrenbacher, Priscilla M. (Al) Villarreal and Paul E. (Beth) Derrenbacher; grandchildren Kim, Eliot, Geoff, Matthew, Jonathan and Nathaniel; great-grandchildren Noah, Anya, Skye and Sterling; and by her extended family at the Blossom View Nursing Home. Walter and Marjorie were well known Soduskans, having lived in Sodus for more than 30 years. Marjorie may best be remembered as Dr. Morris Beal’s receptionist. She also was the editor of the Sodus Record for many years. Walter and Marjorie were active at Sodus Central School as well as many community organizations including Masons, Order of Eastern Star and Grange. Marjorie loved music and played piano, organ and accordion at many local churches. Marjorie was a devoted mother and grandmother. The family appreciated Marjorie’s fine cooking abilities which were enhanced with fruits and vegetables from Walter’s copious garden. Marjorie and Walter are greatly loved and will be missed. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 28th at the First Presbyterian Church of Sodus. Interment will be private. Donations in memory of Marjorie may be sent to the Activity Fund at the Blossom View Nursing Home, 6884 Maple Avenue, Sodus, NY 14551. Arrangements are by the Norton Funeral Home of Sodus.
