Obituary of Dale Wesley Kerr

WOLCOTT: Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at his Wolcott home on January 16th, 2015 at the age of 86. He was born March 28, 1928 in Star Lake, NY to Ralph and Monica Hickey Kerr. Dale attended Clarkson University in Canton. In 1948 he married Betty Hewitt. He had worked at Kerr Brothers Garage in Star Lake until 1972. In 1976 he purchased the Wolcott Auto Parts, Inc. which he owned and operated for 36 years. Dale was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and was also a member of the Wolcott Lions Club. Dale’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, and wife of 66 years. He is survived by his wife Betty; six children, Diane (Dan) Towne of Star Lake, Dean (Michele) Kerr of Sodus, Coleen Kerr Crary of Gainesville, FL, Betsy (James) Swartwood of Wolcott, Debra (Robert) Fratangelo of Sodus, Thomas (Tanya) Kerr of Wolcott; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Joan (Jack) Leffert of Star Lake, and Elsie (Leo) Chatelain of Star Lake; brothers William Kerr of Oswegatchie, and Drew (Mary Lou) of Wooster, OH He was predeceased by his sister Betsy Jane. There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday January 21st, 10 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Wolcott. At the request of the Kerr family please omit flowers and instead consider a memorial contribution in Dale’s name to the Patient Activity Fund at the Wayne County Nursing Home, 1529 Nye Road in Lyons, NY 14489; Lakeshore Vounteer Ambulance Servive, 5841 New Hartford Street, Wolcott, NY 14590; or to Lifetime Care Hospice, 800 West Miller Street, Newark, NY 14513.
