Obituary of Edwin C. Secor

Savannah: Passed away at his home on Wednesday November 19th, at the age of 90. Edwin is survived by his wife of 56 years Donna Yates Secor; his children Alison (Timothy) Young, Brian (Amy) Secor, and David (Lisa) Secor; grandchildren Sarah, Courtney, Lauren, Julia, Madison, Sigourney, and Slone; sister Janet Wiechert; many nieces and nephews. Edwin was predeceased by his brother Harold Secor. Ed was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Force. He was a 2nd Lieutenant attached to the 557th AAF Base Unit, where he was a pilot who flew the B-24 Liberator in missions over the Ardennes and Central Europe. Following the end of World War II he continued flying with the Air Force Reserve from Griffiss AFB in Rome. At the completion of his military service he returned home to Savannah to work in the family business started by his parents, Ray and Hazel Secor. Ed along with his brother Harold continued operation of Secor Lumber, where it continues today under family ownership. His daily visits to the lumber yard continued well into his retirement years. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 23rd, from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 13081 West Church Street in Savannah. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church on Grand Avenue, Savannah, Monday at 10 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Crusoe Cemetery.
