Obituary of John Burton

Sodus: Born March 2, 1925 in Cecil, Alabama, John was the son of the late Abraham and Annie Buron, he departed this life on September 24, 2014.
He attended McClukin School in Cecil, Alabama, and loved football games. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by sisters Fannie Mae Reese and Rebecca Burton, and one brother Dale Burton; and very good friend Jean Cogdell. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters Annie Ruth Roe of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Shameka (Tom) Jackson of Sodus; one son Michael (Felicia) Burton; seven step-children; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; good friend Easter Reddick, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
John confessed his life to Christ at an early age at the St. Paul Baptist Church in Pike Road, Alabama. After moving to New York, John became a member of the Beulah Hill Missionary Baptist Church in East Williamson, where he faithfully served until his health began to fail him.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday October 1st from 6-9 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus. On Thursday, please join the family at the Beulah Hill Missionary Baptist Church, King Street in East Williamson at 1 p.m. for a home going celebration of John’s life. Interment will follow at the Sodus Rural Cemetery.
