Obituary of Victor Joseph "Joe" Tiberio

Savannah: Victor Joseph Tiberio, age 88, passed away on Saturday July 19th at his residence in Savannah, NY.
Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years Carol King Tiberio; son Joseph (Angela) Tiberio of Honeoye Falls; daughter Theresa (Richard) Molisani Jr. of Clyde; grandchildren Nicholas (Tara) Tiberio, Nathalie (Robert) Adamthwaite, Nadine and Nathan Tiberio, Giulia, Carly, and Rachael Molisani; great-grandson William Tiberio; brother Carlo (Sydney) Tiberio; brother and sister-in-law Donald and Carolyn King, Bonnie Hartmann, Norman and Karen King; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe was predeceased by his parents Giulia and Carlo Tiberio, brother James (Lucy) Tiberio Sr., sisters Mary (Rudolph) Sangiacomo, and Louise Ferreri; brother-in-laws Kenneth King, and Erich Hartmann.
A lifelong resident of Savannah, he entered military service in 1944, serving with the Army’s 109th Infantry Regiment in the European Theater of Operations. He was a recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, American Campaign Medal, Army Occupation Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and French Croix de guerre. Following his discharge in July of 1946, Joe returned to Savannah where he became owner and proprietor of Tiberio Brothers Hardware in Savannah. He later was employed at GTE-Sylvania in Seneca Falls. For 50 years Joe drove School Bus for the Savannah district, and continued to do so following consolidation with the Clyde-Savannah School District. He was a lifetime parishioner of St. Patrick’s, and was involved with the construction of the current church in 1964.
Visitation will be Tuesday July 22nd, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 13081 West Church St. (Route 31), Savannah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday from St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Grand Avenue in Savannah. Military honors and entombment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Clyde.
