Larry was one of my best friends in High School. We played basketball together for hours…he had a unique, killer jump shot. Larry drove to several parties and the “good side” of the Point, often in his sisters 1956 Chevy. As we got older our paths went in different directions, but whenever we had a chance to get together it was like we never skipped a beat. Larry was true blue. He and I laughed a lot and enjoyed the simple joys. I pray he’s at peace and still shooting jumpers!

Here is what I posted for my friends and family and I thought others should have yet another example of what a great person he was, as many of you already know.
Larry,
He was a brother, really. I must have been 8 at their wedding and they built a house next to my parents so they were also my neighbors for many many years. I helped him install a few pools. He got me into little league and helped me with countless endeavors - things like motorcycle repair, lending tools, rides to work and a few things I’d rather not mention.
I owe a lot to Larry. Larry was instrumental in getting me my job at Xerox which lasted over 20 years before moving to Georgia, where I went from technician, to engineer and beyond.
At Xerox, Larry was the top xerographer. He was the one who researched and developed the complicated xerographic settings for Xerox’s largest copiers and printers. I often saw him in 60° or 85° chambers developing the huge machines for various climate possibilities. Everyone came to him for advice on getting the smaller devices running. Together, we watched Xerox degrade into a joke and often spoke, discussing technically and inter politics-wise topics. We spoke the same language.
His hobbies were cars, landscaping and westerns. He loved to mow his 6 acres(?) of lawn. He liked beer, but I can’t ever remember him being drunk (but then again, my memory is poor). His man cave was a large well kept garage where he kept his vintage chevy, corvette and tractor. (I forgot to add he encouraged me to join the Lion's Club where we did many good things for the area.)
It was obvious he loved his children and grandkids as well as being loved by a multitude of nephews and nieces and all of his family members who knew him.
When confronted with just a week or so to live, he fought and stretched it into an impressive 8+ months. As my sister says, a strong Dutchman.
RIP Larry D. VanGee.
