Sheila and I became friends in 2003. When I was worried about being an "old maid" she introduced me to a better more tolerable label. I was "quirkyalone" and it wasn't a bad thing. We both loved tennis and talked about going to the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, OH. I wish we had. Sheila was a traveler and birder. We laughed over and admired in particular the Blue-footed Booby. When she retired and moved out to Wolcott we saw less of each other. We originally met for lunch occasionally in Webster and eventually made time for monthly phone calls. I loved her sense of humor. We always found something to laugh about. Sheila's passing is a loss to us all and in particular her family. My sympathy to all who loved her.

I remember Sheila as an avid birder, a hobby she enjoyed on our trips to the Adirondacks and to the Bruce Peninsula in Canada. While the rest of us went on longer hikes, Sheila looked for birds and often found them. I've known Sheila for many years and will miss visiting her at her home in Wolcott, where she had a beautiful yard inviting birds and butterflies, which she enjoyed watching.
