Dad,
It has been 3 yrs ago today that I held your hand as you passed from this life to be with Jesus. I miss you a lot, but I know that you are healed and now Mom is with you again.
I will see you soon...both of you!

These are sad and trying times for the family with Ward Russell passing and other problems. Our concerns and prayers are with you all. We are fortunate to have each member and their chosen relatives in our family. Many of us live far from each other and have not had many of the delightful and meaningful experiences of knowing each other as well some others . Yet we carry on with our own personalities and character and influences and interesting lives. Many of our own ways and reasoning and choices have been based on the character and ways and examples of others in our family that came before us.
My Uncle Don and Aunt Charlotte were examples and influences on me for many years, and continue to be. Their character and beliefs in the teachings and promises of Jesus Christ had much to do with me being interested enough to find out these truths for myself so I could make valid choices and be confident of better concepts here on earth and a confidence in a good eternity.
We shared many delightful and interesting experiences with work, play, church and adventures. Our friendships and relationships are for a lifetime, and for that I am appreciative and grateful. Many of the things I learned helped me to succeed in many of my future endeavors. Our best wishes & concerns are with you all.

Dad was hardworking, self reliant and persevering. No day's work ended with the evening meal- not by a long shot. He was disciplined in teaching himself through voracious reading and by just plain trying things out.He applied this knowledge on ventures throughout life. He had a problem solving attitude, employed to invent, build and organize in his businesses, church and community organizations. Some of his involvements became life time projects.
From an early age, dad took responsibility for his own life - his own fate, never letting circumstance of disadvantage hold him back. He disdained bragging, display and complaining. He did not believe anyone owed him anything and that fortune should be of his own making.
He was a hard task master of himself and of his family. Still he had compassion toward the truly downtrodden, evidenced by the benevolent projects he secretly supported and by the many hours of personal endeavor devoted to individuals, church and to organizations he judged as especially worthy contributors to society. We did not see eye to eye on various issues and approaches but I have to respect his motives, his character and what he accomplished.

Grandpa was a warm, caring and deeply religious man. He had a thousand stories about hunting and trapping. As well as all the places he had traveled. He had a keen interest in financial issues such as the stock market. Going to his country house as a kid there was always work to accomplish and a fest on the table

To the Russell family and Mrs. Russell:
Please accept my condolences on the death of your father and husband.
You may not recognize my name. I worked with Herbert Font-Russell on a resolution by the Seneca County Board of Supervisors honoring the 70th anniversary of the marriage of Ward and Charlotte.
As I am a local history buff, I feel very lucky that I learned about Mr. Russell and the contribution he and his family made to Seneca County as the largest local, national, and international manufacturer of flagg.
My heart goes out to you all.
Sincerely, Margaret Li

We will always remember Uncle Don with loving hearts.Dan has fond memories of his Uncle Don and Aunt Charlotte when he was younger, growing up not too far from his childhood home. Uncle Don always made me feel loved and part of the family when Dan married this little girl from Missouri. On one of their trips they stopped to visit us and spend the night. It was a grand time. I will cherish my memories of laughter and love from a man of godly faith. We will see Uncle Don again... Our prayers and thoughts go to the rest of the family at this time. Wish the miles didn't come between us,but our thoughts and prayers are right there.
God bless, In His Love,
Dan,Kathy and Family~

He was the best Uncle I had, without a doubt. Growing up we lived only a quarter of a mile apart. He was not only a good role model, but I knew he loved us and cared for us as well.
For years - until our kids were teenagers - Uncle Don and Aunt Charlotte sent them Christmas gifts through the mail. It is something grandparents would normally do, but these were their "great" nieces and "great" nephews. It told of their great love and generosity.
When they moved to Florida, I thought it might be the last time I'd see them. But they moved back to Seneca Falls and we moved back ourselves two years ago. This has been truly a great reunion. I never dreamed it would happen.
Because of Uncle Don's faith in God and salvation through Jesus Christ, there is hope of being reunited in Heaven. That will be a glorious day!
