Obituary of Eva Lee Melton

Sodus: On February 13th, we lost a true angel. Eva L. Melton (Butts) was born July 16th 1930 in Cordele, GA, to parents Leila (Morgan) & Charlie C. Butts. She was raised and attended school in Crisp County GA. Then Soon after, her and husband, Willie Joe Penn migrated to N.Y. state with daughter Jerry. “Bud’s” working career started out at Seneca Foods Corporation in East Williamson, NY. She then left for a brief period, were she worked for ARA, a food service division of Xerox. Afterwards, Eva returned to Seneca Foods to finish out her various working endeavors into the late 1980’s. “Bud’s” favorite pastimes were cooking, sewing, hair dressing, gardening, and doing crosswords. She also loved her “stories”. At the age of 81, Eva was predeceased by her mother, father, husband Willie Joe, and 14 elder siblings. Eva is survived by her only child, daughter Jerry (Jackson), and her five grandchildren, Pamela, Bonita, Aaron, Ed, and Sean. Her great-grandchildren, Devin and Imyn. Eva’s great great grandsons, Jaden and Landon, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 24th from 11 to 1 at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus, where her funeral will be held at the conclusion of visitation. Interment will be at the Sodus Rural Cemetery.
