I'm so sorry to hear about Pat. I grew up right next door to his family on Maple Ave in Sodus. Have many fond memories of playing neighborhood softball games. Although he was older I had fun trying to keep up. Went in the many tree forts Pat and John built. Watched him play pony league baseball games. I wanted to be on the same team when I was old enough.
I know you will miss him but you have many great memories and they will stay with you the rest of your lives.
God Bless

Pat enlisted in the Navy just about the same time as I did. I learned during boot camp at Great Lakes Illinois that he was from Sodus, while I grew up in Marion. His presence during boot camp was comforting knowing that I wasn't such a lone ranger in a very different environment, the military, by his being from and having grown up in the same Wayne County area in our early years. After boot camp, we all got orders to go to different bases and ships. So I lost touch with Pat from that point in time.
A few years ago,I recognized the name 'LaGasse' from someone who was working at HEP in Newark. Turned out after I asked the gentleman if he happened to know a 'Pat LaGasse' where he, Jeff, told me that he was Pat's brother. Jeff filled me in a little of his brother's life.
So Pat was was assigned to the U.S.S Forrestal. A next door neighbor from Marion was also stationed aboard that carrier probably the same time as Pat.
I am sorry to hear of Pat's passing. He made a very positive impression on me back then and he was very outgoing and upbeat from the time we spent at boot camp.
My deepest sympathy to Pat's family and friends for your loss.
