Obituary of Rhayna Kay Arliss

Rhayna Kay (Tompkins) Arliss age 74 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 2, 2018   Rhayna was born in Upland, California on August 12, 1943 to the late Stratton & Irene Tompkins. She traveled to NY in the backseat of her parents’ car in a clothes basket. Rhayna was a lifelong resident of Clyde, NY. Per her request there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at Wayne Hills Country Club on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 1-4 pm.

Rhayna received her LPN nursing license in 1965 and worked at Newark Wayne Community Hospital as an OR nurse and in the OB department. After there she then went to work for Dr Yung Su Pang as his secretary. Rhayna worked at Wayne Hills Golf Course. She was the 1st female president of the golf course and later was secretary for the golf course until she retired from that job. Rhayna started working for the Clyde Savannah School System in September 1989 and retired in 2011. She married the love of her life Frederick Arliss on March 2,1962 at her parents’ home on Carolina St. in Clyde NY. They were married for 56 years. 

Rhayna is survived by her husband Frederick William Arliss, her daughter Kathryn Ann Arliss Grabbatin, grandson Brian Frederick Arliss, great granddaughter Emilia Janice Arliss, her daughter-in- law Laura Ann Ufholz Arliss of Sodus NY, brother Ambrose Stratton Tompkins of South Buffalo, Buffalo NY and her very large extended family; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased in death by her parents and by her beloved son William Stratton Arliss in 2001.
