Obituary of Jesse E. Smith
Please share a memory of Jesse to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Butler: Passed away peacefully at home on May 30th at age 87.
Jesse is survived by his wife Nora of 65 years and their children Dorthy Fry, Betty Smith, Donald Smith and Robert Smith; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His brother Norman and a large extended family of cousins nieces and nephews.
A proud World War II veteran, Jesse served in the Marine Corps. He was deployed from Parris Island, through the Panama Canal, and the Hawaiian Islands where he spent 3 months after being injured. Jesse had a natural talent for playing instruments and had the honor of playing the fiddle for his fellow comrades while serving his country. He was not only a professional fiddler player but had the talent to play the mandolin, accordion, and guitar just to name a few.
Jesse was always keeping busy. With his love of music and talents for playing instruments he enjoyed his time spent at parks in Florida performing with his friends. He not only owned a dance studio in Farmington, NY but also owned his own crane and ran shovel. Jesse owned and operated a trucking business where he transported mobile homes.
A Private family service with military honors will be held on June 16th. Arr: Norton Funeral Home of Wolcott.
