To the Cottrell family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Ned was a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. He showed a great deal of courage as he faced his struggles with diabetes. I admired him for that.
We were friends from an early age, classmates in the Sodus Class of 1967, and members of the same Sunday school in which Ned's mom was our teacher. I have fond memories of him.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Dear Cottrell family,
I only taught science in Sodus for two years before moving on to Fairport for 34 years. But I remember those two years in Sodus with fondness.
It was my first two years of teaching so I was a rookie fresh out of college and not much older than my students. I learned a lot about teaching in those two years. Ned was a member of my sophomore biology class. I still remember him as a sophomore so the picture in the paper was a bit of a shock. How could he possibly be 64 years old? I enjoyed Ned. He was a fine student with a very likeable personality. My sympathy goes out to the family in their loss.
May the Lord comfort you with his peace.
Sincerely,
Royce Rogers

I have so many fond memories of our childhood, riding his horse, sledding down the big hill in the backyard and teaching Ned how to swim in Arney's creek. I will always remember the great birthday parties he had as a kid at his grandmother's house. He was a good friend and a great guy.
