Obituary of Philip R. Wadsworth

Wolcott: Passed away on Friday February 15th, age 86. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Andrew and Gladys Wadsworth. Phil spent much of his adult life as a farmer in the Wolcott area. In 1967 he was instrumental in the formation of Wegman’s Egg Farm, and became its first General Manager. Phil was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the post World War II years. Phil is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois Ann; his sons Andy (Karen) Wadsworth and Chuck (Debora) Wadsworth; grandchildren Jason, Matthew, Erin, Cali, Katlyn, Jamison and Zachary; great grandchildren Jacob, Philip, Leah, Lane, Reagan, Caleb, Tessa, Molly and Max; brother Milton (Mysty) Wadsworth; sisters Eleanor Letts, Jane (Ron) DeCracker and Andrea (Henry) Felker; cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday March 2nd, from 1-3 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 5925 New Hartford Street in Wolcott, where his funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation. Immediately following, the family will host a reception for family and friends at the Wolcott Elks Lodge on West Port Bay Road, Wolcott. Interment with Military Honors will be held at the convenience of his family at the Butler Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be sent to the Wolcott Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps (WAVAC), 5841 New Hartford Street in Wolcott, or to the Activity Fund, c/o Blossom View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 6884 Maple Avenue, Sodus, NY 14551.
