Obituary of Stanley Eugene Stevenson

Wolcott: Passed away Thursday evening (Nov. 29th) age 84 following an extended illness. Gene is survived by his wife Eleanor; children Debbie (Steve) O’Connell, LuAnn Robinson (James Michael Conley), Rebecca (Charlie) Livingston, Carolyn (Banjo) Smith, and Ken Stevenson; grandchildren Jennifer, Jessica, Jacqui, Jamie, Brandon, Lance, Casey, Joe, Nicholas and Logan; 12 great grandchildren; lifetime friends Kenneth Clum and Eugene Teeple. Gene was predeceased by his foster parents Paul and Charlotte Marshall, Ben and Lou Wilson. Gene was a veteran of the Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He served during the post WWII era in occupied Japan, attended the NYS College of Forestry, and worked for 32 years at Eastman Kodak in Rochester where he was a Chemical Specialist in the Research and Engineering Departments. He was a member of the Wolcott American Legion, Wolcott V.F.W., and was Past Exalted Ruler of Wolcott Lodge #1763 B.P.O.E. In 1983 Gene was licensed as a hot air balloon pilot. He and his balloon the “Bully Wumpus” travelled extensively across the United States, Canada, France and Japan. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, 6-8 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 5925 New Hartford Street in Wolcott. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 from the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will be held at the Huron Evergreen Cemetery.
