Wolcott: Age 83, was called home on June 16, 2012. He was born September 19, 1928 to Clifton and Laura Pettit. Howard is survived by his wife of 58 years Arvilla; his children: Michael (Anne), Dale (James), Daniel; step-daughter Dixie; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Emmagene Powell, Rhonna Yasso, Margaret Lawson, Mary Steighler, Laurel (Richard) Mitchell, Clifton (Joanne) Pettit, Leslie Pettit and Leroy Pettit. Howard was predeceased by his daughter Patricia, step-son Gabriel and his brother Robert. Howard served in the US Army from 1950-1952 and in the Army Reserve from 1952-1956. He owned and operated Pettit’s Gun Shop since 1956 and had been employed by New York Telephone for 35 years. He was a member of the Wolcott Elks Lodge, the American Legion and the VFW. Calling hours and services will be held on Tuesday from 1-2 pm at the Norton Funeral Home, 5925 New Hartford Street, Wolcott. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Huron Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his honor to the Clifton Springs Cancer Center or to the National Rifle Association. An extra special thank you goes out to his granddaughter Constance Pettit and to Dixie Castor.
