Obituary of Jay I. Moorman

Sodus: Jay Irving Moorman, 61, of Sodus, died April 17, 2012 at Rochester General Hospital after a brave battle with illness. He is survived by children Robyn of Tampa, Chad and his wife, Maria of Philadelphia, and Aaron Colern of Sodus; grandson Dean of Philadelphia; sister Joan Drury of Sodus; several brothers and sisters-in-law, parents-in-law; nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Dean and Dorothy, and brother Bruce. Jay was born on April 23, 1950 in Sodus and graduated from Sodus Central High School in 1967. Since that time, he has been employed by Xerox. He was a life-long resident of Sodus where he could often be found helping his neighbors. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his young grandson, Dean, who was named for Jay’s father. He was a kind and generous man who was proud of his children and loved by his family. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, from 2-4 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus, where his funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation.
