Sodus Point: Passed away at home, Sunday January 15th at age 94. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Oscar P. Fuerst on June 30 2000. She is survived by her daughter Gail A. (Frank, Chief Petty Officer, Ret. U.S.C.G.) Wackerle; grandson Petty Officer 2nd Class, U.S.C.G. Jamie L. (Shirlee) Wackerle of Portsmouth, VA; great-grandaughter Paige Victoria Wackerle of Media, PA; sister Jean Becker of Fairport; several nieces and nephews. Gladys was a charter member of the Sodus Point Fire Department Auxiliary with 58 years of service.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18th, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street, Sodus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, Church of the Epiphany, 105 West Main Street, Sodus. Interment will be at the Sodus Rural Cemetery. Donations in memory of Gladys may be directed to the Sodus Point Fire Department, or to Lifetime Care.
